The purpose of this study is to review 27 major items in Volumes 2 and 3 of 『Jangyongyeongdaejeolmok』. The conclusions on this are following in these. First, the Volume 2 of 『Jangyongyeongdaejeolmok』 consists of 14 items- Gyeongyong, Jibang, Gokbu, Hoewei, Popyum, Sanggyeon, Hoejwa, Muncheop, Sisang, Hoigye, Banyeol, Juhyul, Yeonhan, and Jabshik. The Volume 3 contains 13 items - Seongyusu, Jechi, Bungong, Chingunwi, Bogun, Yubang, Byeolgungwan, Dosi, Baebongjin, Goseongjin, Jangbyeoldosi, Galmachang, and Noryangjin. Second, King Jeongjo emphasized various martial arts training as well as combined literary and martial arts as martial arts promotion policy for for 24 years in his reign. He constructed Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, established Jang Yong-yeong's outer camp, and the published 『Muyedobotongji』 for the efforts of strengthning royal authority and prospering the country. Third, the installation of Jangyongyeong Oeyeong was a part of the plans to secure the military power through military reformation and strengthen the royal authority. Jang Yong-yeong's duties were to guard the palace, escort the king, and escort the king’s ship. The reality of Jangyongyeong Oeyeong has disappeared into the memory of history, but the sword martial arts in 『Muyedobotongji』 are practiced in Suwon Hwaseong as an intangible heritage of traditional martial arts.
